Quadrantanopia means loss of a quadrant of visual space. Homonymous quadrantic visual field defects can be caused by lesions of the dorsal or ventral portion of the optic radiations, thus Superior Quadrantanopia may accompany contralateral temporal lobe lesions whereas Inferior Quadrantanopia may reflect a contralateral parietal lobe lesion. Quadrantanopia can also be caused by restricted lesions in the occipital lobe, including lesions of extrastriate cortex (e.g., V2/V3) that spare V1.
