The Uncus (hook) is a surface landmark, a small bump on the medial surface of the temporal lobe. More specifically, it is on the anterior medial surface of the parahippocampal gyrus and on the ventral brain can sometimes be found just lateral to the mammillary bodies. The uncus marks the zone of primary olfactory cortex (see above) and under the uncus lies the amygdala. Uncus is also called uncinate gyrus.
