The spinal cord gray matter was traditionally divided (by Rexed) into 10 laminae or layers which he labeled with Roman Numerals I through X. This course emphasizes functional nuclei or zones, e.g. ‘nucleus proprius’, which corresponds to Rexed’s Layers III & IV.
