Drooping of the upper eyelid. Two muscles are involved in upper eyelid elevation: 1) the superior tarsal muscle, (aka Müller’s muscle) which is a smooth muscle with sympathetic innervation (via the intermediolateral column of the spinal cord and the sympathetic chain ganglia), and 2) the levator palpebrae, a skeletal muscle innervated by directly via CN 3.
