Also called medulla oblongata or myelencephalon. Is the most caudal portion of brainstem and is continuous with the cervical spinal cord at the foramen magnum. Landmarks include pyramids, olives, and cranial nerves 9 thru 12. Also, the posterior surface of the upper medulla forms the floor of 4th ventricle.
