The posterior limb of the IC divides the thalamus from the lenticular nucleus (putamen/globus pallidus). The posterior limb contains the corticospinal tract (the leg region is most lateral/posterior), more corticopontine fibers, and the superior thalamic radiation which includes somatosensory fibers going to primary somatosensory cortex in the post-central gyrus.
