This long fiber tract connects Wernicke’s and Broca’s areas. Destruction of this connection in the dominant hemisphere can produce conduction aphasia, in which the patient can comprehend speech and speak, but is poor at speech repetition. Spontaneous speech will be fluent but have frequent errors.
