A small bridge of axons that cross between the left and right halves of the spinal cord. It is located anterior to the central canal, thus just posterior to the bottom of the anterior median fissure. [There is also an ‘anterior commissure’ in the brain proper]. Fibers in the spinothalamic tract and anterior corticospinal tract cross in this commissure.
