The cingulum is a large bundle of cortical association fibers projecting within the “limbic lobe” from the cingulate gyrus to the entorhinal cortex/parahippocampal gyrus of the temporal lobe adjacent to the hippocampal formation. As such, it forms a critical link in the Papez circuit of the limbic system.
